Audi Q4 E-Tron Owner Left Feeling “Cheap” After Pop-Up Message

An Audi Q4 E-Tron owner from Denmark caused a surprising message to pop up on the infotainment system for trying to access a function he had not paid extra for.

Usually, when an owner decides to not add any optional extras, the manufacturer will add in a blank plate over where the button for this function would be. However, Audi left the physical button there.

The new Audi Q4 E-Tron comes with a tri-zone climate control function as standard for the UK and US, but not in other countries such as Denmark.

Posting to Reddit, the owner mentioned that he knew that the function wouldn’t be available but said:

“This one is reminding me that I’m cheap”

And that he felt that “blank buttons aren’t rude”.

There have been a few suggestions on how Audi could have gone about this apart from adding the blank button. Even just changing the wording slightly to say the function isn’t available rather than the owner hasn’t purchased the feature. Instead of using this as an opportunity to up-sell with customers to get them to upgrade to include this feature, it seems Audi has missed the mark slightly with this one.
