New Supra To Be Revealed At Goodwood Festival Of Speed

We’ve been teased for months with teaser images, race car versions, and even NASCAR versions of the new Toyota Supra. But after all this wait, we’re finally going to be able to see the new Supra in action at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The inline 6-cylinder BMW engined car will be rushed up the hill climb by chief engineer Tetsuya Tada, the man also responsible for the charming GT86. Like the previous Supra, it will be rear-wheel drive, and if the rumours are true, it will feature the engine from the latest M3, meaning 450hp might be in the making.

The car shares a chassis wit the new BMW Z4 and will be built in the same German factory, but Tada-san assures us that they will be very different cars. The Supra will honour its legacy and heritage of being a pure sports car with GT characteristics.

“There are fewer common elements than you would imagine. It’s not like the GT86 and Subaru,”

The racing Supra will also be displayed at the festival just in case the standard model isn’t good enough for you, featuring lower, more racey suspension and lightweight materials, as well as a host of other performance enhancing options.

Toyota have confirmed that the Supra will be released during the first half of 2019. So folks, not much longer to wait for one of the most legendary cars in the world to arrive again.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
