F1 News: Kevin Magnussen Will Replace Nikita Mazepin At Haas
Fans will be happy to hear that the Russian F1 driver Nikita Mazepin has officially been replaced with fan-favourite Kevin Magnussen. This comes days after Russia invaded Ukraine and racing organisations around the world banned Russians athletes from competing.
Now, as testing in Bahrain kicks off, fans are wondering how soon the Danish driver will get behind the wheel after leaving Haas in 2020. He’s reportedly signed a “multi year” contract alongside Mick Schumacher after cancelling his endurance championship on good terms.
On the other end of the spectrum, Nikita Mazepin has revealed that he still wants to return to F1, but won’t return to drive with Haas:
“I do not want to be at a team that doesn’t want me.
“Formula One is a dangerous sport and you have to rely on the team you are working with. It is a question of safety, and it is fair to say I don’t have that trust in them.”
At the moment it’s looking as though Pietro Fittipaldi will be driving forHaas during Bahrain testing, but we’ll have full confirmation tomorrow.
