F1 News: Sebastian Vettel Supports Lewis Hamilton In Hilarious Moment As Jensen Button Disagrees

After the FIA has reinforced its rules and regulations surrounding what an F1 driver can and can’t wear while on the track, Aston Martin driver Sebastian Vettel rebelled against these changes, wearing his boxers on the outside of his racing suit.

Photos were taken of him wearing his boxers outside of his suit as he began his practice session today at the Miami Grand Prix. The four-time champion was obviously happy, laughing at his choice of clothing as he entered his car. This comes moments after FIA has enforced its crackdown on jewelry and the wearing of fireproof underwear.

Supporting Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton, Vettel wore a pair of boxers on the outside of his racing suit.

“I think it is a bit unnecessary to blow this topic up,” sad the driver as he revealed his support to Hamilton. “Probably at this stage it’s more of a personal thing. And I feel in a particular way targeted to Lewis.

“I mean, we spoke about underpants as well. But really, is that the most exciting thing we can talk about?

“So in a way, you know, there’s a concern for safety. Obviously, if you have stuff and the car does catch fire, then it will be unpleasant.

“But on the other hand, I think, you know, to some degree, it’s personal freedom, and we’re old enough to make our choices outside the car, we should be old enough to make choices also inside the car.”

Ex-F1 driver Jensen Button has now disagreed, however, telling Sky Sports F1:

“It is not just what happens at the circuit, it is when they take the crash helmet off, is it going to pull on the ear and then the marshal feels bad that he’s hurt you.

“Or, it could be if you are taken to the hospital and they have to do an x-ray or an MRI, you can’t have metal in your face either.

“It is a tricky one and it is weird we are talking about it. There are so many things to talk about in motorsport and F1 at the moment and we are talking about that.”

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: alex@grandtournation.com
