Jeremy Clarkson On The Lamborghini Tractor He Bought For Clarkson’s Farm: “I’ve Got To Have One Of Those”
The first episode of Clarkson’s Farm was an absolute delight. We’re greeted by Jeremy Clarkson who explains to us the show’s premise, and it all seems very innocent, almost like The Grand Tour presenter has turned over a new leaf from his life of supercars and big V8s. Of course, we were quickly proven wrong – thankfully – as Clarkson begins to turn his nose up at a number of small tractors.

This, frankly, wasn’t enough for the presenter, with the most powerful tractor in this initial collection only sporting 65 horsepower. The tone of the episode quickly changes as we’re now being chased by Clarkson who is sat behind the wheel of a Lamborghini R8 tractor, a ten-tonne behemoth with 40 forwards gears and 40 reverse gears.
It’s safe to say, it’s a bit of a monster, with 270 horsepower and all-wheel-drive.
Jeremy was asked about his Lamborghini R8 in a Q&A:
You got quite excited about buying a huge Lamborghini tractor. Was the machinery part of the appeal?
“No, not at all, quite the reverse. I’ve spent all my life playing around with great big machines, so that was the last thing I needed – but as soon as I knew that Lamborghini made tractors, I said, “I’ve got to have one of those.” Because I didn’t know which tractor to buy, I thought I might as well buy one that sounds nice.”
He continued:
“So I went off and bought one. But no, I didn’t decide to do it so that I could drive big tractors all day long. I just thought it would be fun to get to know the farm. I still don’t know it, but I have a much greater understanding of how it works now than I did 18 months ago when we began. “
The tractor turned out to be a handful as he soon realised it was too big for his farm. On top of this, its hitch was European, which meant none of his equipment would fit without a pricey adapter.
In fact, Clarkson had several problems with the tractor, all of which are explained in full here:
