1,400HP Dodge Viper Hits 252MH During High Speed Testing
We’ve missed the Dodge Viper very much since it was discontinued in 2017. It was immensely fast and track capable, and it’s V10 made 400 hp in its most basic form.
This 2006 Viper isn’t quite that subtle. This one can hit 252 mph with the power of 1,400 horses at the rear wheels. The video below show it stretches it’s legs at the 2.7-mile long former Space Shuttle runway.
Apparently, the car was out testing new engine modifications. Obviously they expected great things with the parachute strapped to its rear. It’s a bit nippy, with 100 to 200 mph just taking ten seconds. It’s pulls up to the recorded speed of 252.588 mph.
Internal speed checks are taken care of by Garmin and Racelogic monitoring systems, and externally the International Mile Racing Association (IMRA) takes care of the official timing. Yep, it’s official.
