Bugatti To Build A New Track Focussed Hypercar Called Divo

There’s no doubt about it; Bugatti is a serious manufacturer with some serious records under its belt. But  looking through the comments on our social media sites, I think it’s fair to say that some of you aren’t overly bothered by the way the company is heading.

The Veyron and the Chiron have both been extremely heavy. Yes, very powerful and capable in a straight line, but lacking performance as soon as the road gets windy. The Chiron was a step towards a more curvy future for the VW owned brand, but was still let down by its immense weight despite its trick suspension.

Bugatti’s future is about to take a massive turn however, with their reveal of another hypercar, named after French racer, Albert Divo. It will focus on driving dynamics and feature “outstanding” handling characteristics according to Bugatti.

Completely new bodywork will sit on top of the Chiron’s chassis and 1479bhp powertrain, which will be lightweight and feature high amounts of downforce allowing it to be able to attack an apex with ease.

“With the Divo,” explains Bugatti boss Stephan Winkelmann, “we want to thrill people throughout the world. With this project, the Bugatti team has an opportunity to interpret the brand DNA in terms of agile, nimble handling in a significantly more performance-orientated way.”

If this is all sounding very much up your street, then get ready to cough up the large sum of $5million – an extra high price due to the exclusivity of the model of which only 40 are being built.

Is it time for Bugatti to rekindle their love for the track? I believe so, but it’s early days yet.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
