Elon Musk Confirms Gigafactory To Be Built In Berlin Over The UK
During an awards ceremony last Tuesday in German, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has revealed that the company’s fourth Gigafactory will be built in Europe. Specifically, in Berlin. The new location will be used to build batteries, powertrains for vehicles, and the vehicles themselves.
Musk also confirmed this with a tweet yesterday.

The Berlin factory will be “near the airport”, presumably meaning Brandenburg airport and south of the city centre, and is scheduled to open next year.
“I think Berlin has some of the best art in the world,” Musk said explains how he wants to include a future design centre in the project.
“Everyone knows that German engineering is outstanding and that’s part of the reason we’re locating our Gigafactory Europe in Germany,” Musk added.
According to the recent earnings report, Tesla states that the Euro Giga will be operational by 2021 alongside the existing facility in Buffalo, one in Nevada which is currently under construction, and one in China, which has only recently started producing cars.
Previously, Musk had mentioned the UK as being a possible home for the fourth factory, but current disputes over Brexit has surely warned him off.
