Forza Motorsport 7 Announced With Exclusive Porsche Partnership

E3 is in full swing this week, and with Microsoft’s press conference held yesterday, we got an announcement on not only a new Xbox One system, but also Forza Motorsport 7.

The new console is the Xbox One X, previously known by its dev name, the Xbox Scorpio. This monster of a console will feature more power than anything else seen on the market today, packing 6 teraflops of power, 12 GDDR5 RAM, and a custom GPU that runs at 1172MHz. All this to say the Xbox One X is the most powerful home console on the market.

With this powerful new console come Forza Motorsport 7, which is set to provide more eye candy than you can handle:

Forza Motorsport 7 will be an Xbox One X launch title, and will run natively at 4K/60 FPS on the new console (the game will also run on previous Xbox One consoles). There will be over 700 cars to choose from (compared to 450 in FM6), and will undoubtedly feature more via DLC.

In addition, Microsoft signed a new six-year deal with Porsche, a move which was announced with the world debut of the new 911 GT2 RS at the press conference. Porsche was currently in a deal with Electronic Arts prior to inking with Microsoft.

To go along with the 700+ cars are 30 different locations, which will feature over 200 different configurations. During the trailer, we can see a new Dubai road course/hillclimb location, which brings back fond memories of Fujimi Kaido.

A bigger focus this year will be on eSports, which will be seen through the Forza Racing Championship and the partnership with Porsche. There will be new spectating modes, integration with Mixer, and expanded competitions and championships.

FM6 had specific night and weather modes which locked you into a specific time of day and weather, but FM7 will feature an all-new dynamic weather system. You can see the system featured in the trailer above, and ever changing weather will make for some very interesting races.

2017 is shaping up to be an epic year for racing fans. Just off the top of my head, I can think of Project CARS 2, F1 2017, Gran Turismo Sport, and Forza Motorsport 7 in October for Xbox One And Pc. The Xbox One X console will launch on November 7th, so expect your FM7 experience to get a lot better if you are planing on getting the new console.
