Jeremy Clarkson Will Be Happy As The Lexus LFA Make A Comeback
Jeremy Clarkson will be happy – Toyota chief Akio Toyoda has revealed that the legendary V10 Lexus LFA that the Grand Tour presenter has so much love for, will be returning.
The Japanese marque has recently revealed 15 all-new EVs that will be coming to market in the near future, and this has wowed fans of the brand as this has included a number of very cool models. It looks as though the MR2 will also be returning, as well as an FJ Cruiser replacement, and even a nippy little hatchback – all powered by batteries.
But the next LFA is what people will really be yearning for. Toyoda had this to say:
“Lexus will develop a next-generation battery EV sports car that inherits the driving taste, or the secret sauce, of the performance cultivated via the development of the LFA.”
That’s right, while the car is currently called the Sports Battery EV (original, I know), it will have very similar proportions to that of the LFA. Add a bit of Supra to the mix, and we’ve got ourselves an incredibly gorgeous supercar that, according to Toyoda, will hit 62mph in under two seconds. This is ticking all the boxes, isn’t it?
Range should come in at around 435 miles, and… well, what else can we say? Sign us up.
Lexus is looking as though it will be an electric-only brand soon enough, with Toyota following suit.
“We can position batteries and electric motors to bring more freedom to battery EVs,” he tells us. We’re all for it.
