What Car Would You Use For A 1000 Mile Road Trip?

Let’s say you are about to take a road trip of a thousand miles. It’s going to take a good few days so you need space for luggage, and there are some great roads on the way so you want something fast. Oh, and there’s no price limit, no budget, and you’ll get free fuel there and back. If only…

Which car do you choose? Here’s a list of a few ideas…

McLaren 720S

While the 720S is a very capable performance car, McLaren built it with the term ‘Grand Tourer’ in mind. The carbon fibre monocoque isn’t only lightweight and rigid, but it allows the roof pillars to be small allowing for greater visibility. It’s also comfortable and has plenty of creature comforts to keep you happy on a long trip. Although who cares, when you’ve got 710bhp under your right foot. It as plenty of luggage space too, thanks to a lower mounted engine.

Ferrari GTC4 Lusso

replacing the FF, the GTC4 Lusso only improved on what was a successful model. This time, the shooting brake came with four-wheel steering as well to make it even more agile and manoeuvrable. It’s got four seats with plenty of space for each passenger, and being a shooting brake, it’s possibly the roomiest car on the list.

Bentley Continental GT

Are you after the ultimate luxury? Then this Conti might be for you. It may be one of the slowest cars on the list, but with a 6.0L W12 and 8 speed dual-clutch transmission at your disposal, 0-62mph in 3.7 seconds is certainly on the books.

Aston Martin DBS Superlegerra

Aston’s latest addition to their lineup boasts 715bhp from a 5.2-litre twin turbo V12. Plenty of power, but having a front-engined powertrain layout it has plenty of space for luggage. It’s interior oozes quality like the Bentley’s, but unlike its German rival, its exterior only ramps up its performance heritage.

Alex Harrington

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
