Red Bull’s Sergio Perez caused a red flag in qualifying after hitting the wall during Q2. Understeering through the standing water on the track at the Canada Grand Prix, he hit the wall head-on as traction disappeared.
Q1 saw Perez struggle as he barely made it into the top 15 as he battled with the wet track, but he managed to scratch into Q2. But, with nine minutes to go, he left the track and wasn’t able to reverse out of the wall. With that, race control showed the red flag as his car was taken off the track. Fortunately, Max Verstappen was able to pull Red Bull to the top of the grid with a successful pole position for tomorrow’s race.
