F1 News: AlphaTauri To Undergo Yet Another Rebrand For 2024

Starting from 2024, the AlphaTauri Formula 1 team is set to undergo massive changes. Not only is a name change on the cards, but shifts in management are also anticipated, casting shadows of uncertainty over the racing future of the duo Nyck de Vries and Yuki Tsunoda.

Originally named Toro Rosso, the team adopted the AlphaTauri brand after the 2019 season, a fashion label with the hope of leveraging positive results. However, the desired success has proven elusive over the last year and a half. Coupled with financial difficulties faced by the AlphaTauri brand, the high cost of sponsoring a Formula 1 team hints at a potential overhaul.

In recent seasons, AlphaTauri has been on a unique path, producing a greater number of its own components. But Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko, in a conversation with Austria’s Kleine Zeitung, indicates a strategic U-turn on the horizon. The team is set to revert to its previous approach of closely following Red Bull’s strategies, as far as regulations permit.

Marko explicitly expresses, “The course is clear: Follow Red Bull Racing as far as the regulations allow. Designing your own is not the way. There will be new sponsors and a new name.” The AlphaTauri name will be retired, with new sponsors stepping in and rebranding the team. Although Marko has not disclosed the forthcoming name, he assures an imminent revelation.

With just two points scored by Yuki Tsunoda and none from rookie Nyck de Vries, the team currently occupies the bottom position in the constructors’ standings. Alongside these confirmed changes, there’s looming uncertainty whether de Vries will retain his place with the team in 2024.
