The Grand Tour: See Behind The Scenes Of Insane Madagascar Drag Race

The Grand Tour released new photos behind the scenes of the drag race on the island of Reunion that will be seen on the next episode of the show. The drag race took place on the most expensive road in the world and, what’s more, is they were the first people to ever drive on it. The epic road is more of a sky bridge that wraps around the coast of the island. Cashing in at a whopping $2billion to construct, it is by far the most expensive road in the world.

The trio had a drag race on the road during the beginning of the Madagascar Special. The road connects the cities of Saint-Denis and La Possession and was paid for by the EU, which sparked fury in Jeremy Clarkson as he commented on what a waste of money it was.

He said the following:

‘I was a Remainer and fervent believer in the EU and what it stands for, but when you see something like this you just think “Oh for heaven’s sake, no wonder Brexit won when we’re spunking this much money on a completely unnecessary vanity project on the other side of the world.”

Clarkson is clearly not a fan of this massive undertaking that the EU made for a bridge on the other side of the world. You can see parts of the drag race in the trailer below.

The Special follows Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May as they embark on a treasure hunting adventure across Madagascar with them being asked to crack a code and find treasure left by the 18th Century pirate known as La Buse, or The Buzzard. His treasure which is yet to be found and worth around £100 million, is waiting somewhere for the trio to track down.

The special titled A Massive Hunt will air on December 18th on Amazon Prime. It has been over a year since the last Special, Seamen, came out. With the Grand Tour now sticking to a “Special only” format, we can expect to see more of these in the future. They have already wrapped up filming another special where the trio explores Scotland in three classic American cars. No release date has been posted for the Scotland Special yet, but we will keep you posted.
