Watch Ferrari’s SF90 Stradale and Charles Leclerc in ‘Le Grand Rendez-Vous’ Short Film
A strange product of its time, Ferrari’s new Le Grand Rendez-Vous, may leave you more confused than you started. Either way, it features some amazing POV shots of their twin-turbocharged V8 hybrid, SF90 Stradale, flying down the streets of Monaco while driven by Charles Leclerc.
Had the event not been cancelled, then it the Monaco Grand Prix would have happened on the day of this shoot, May 24. That wasn’t in the cards however, and now we have this nod to the 1976 short-film C’était un Rendez-Vous. Claude Lelouch, the creator of the inspirational film, got involved with this shoot as well.
In Ferrari’s mind, the cancelling of the Grand Prix, opened up the streets for this artistic showcase of both Leclerc’s driving, as well as the SF90’s insane trip around town. The car’s ridiculous 986 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque are showcased in a series of go-pro shots. They are the main take-away here, seeing as how the speed of the car can really be felt in the low-angle as it sways around corners.
The story-line on the other hand… it’s not much the draw. No doubt, it shows the absurdity of the time we live in, with elbow bumps and in-car face masks. I cringed a little at the removing of the masks that served as a little innuendo.
What do you guys think? Would you like to see more shorts like this? Remember that Wes Anderson Prada film from a few years ago, starring Jason Schwartzman as a race driver?
