Custom-Made Porsche Boxter Shooting Brake Is Being Built By Van Thull Development

We recently wrote about a Porsche shooting brake render, and it was beautiful. Who doesn’t like a shooting brake, seriously? They can perform well and maintain their good looks while still having the boot space that would make most cars blush out of embarrassment. So why don’t they do well? Because SUVs exist I suppose, and for some reason everybody wants one of those instead.

But there are still people in the world that would move the Earth to own a shooting brake, and this is one of them. Built from an early Porsche Boxter, this Porsche shooting brake has been built by Van Thull Development in the Netherlands.

Starting with the Boxter meant they didn’t have to worry about removing the roof and pillars, so they could design their own bespoke sloping roof, spoiler, and C-pillars. The side windows are looking like the shape from a 911, with the rear bumper and lights also appearing to be from a 911, specifically the 991. The nose is from the 997 era 911, but as you can see, the wheels don’t quite match the larger size of the modified front.

The sanded body looks close to being prepped for painting, so we’ll certainly be keeping an eye on the build to see if the Frankenstein body panels come together gracefully. We’ll also be watching out to see just what they put under the bonnet in the form of a powertrain. The Boxter is mid-engined, which puts the original powertrain in a difficult position. What’s the point in a shooting brake if the storage space is taken up by an engine?

We’ll certainly be interested to see how this project turns out, so make sure you bookmark us for any updates. I’d love to see this take a similar form to the BMW Z3M Coupe, but I have no idea what moving the engine to the front will entail. All I can say is that even with the engine in the back, I’d rather buy this over an SUV.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
