Edd China Takes World Record In An All-Electric Ice Cream Van
Edd China has put his name to another world record as he reaches a speed of 73.921 mph in an all-electric ice cream van at Elvington Airfield near York.
Now the world’s fastest ice cream van, the vehicle originally was powered by a Mercedes Sprinter Diesel engine. Now, wearing the name “Edd’s Electric Ices”, it’s powered by an undisclosed electric powertrain which Edd hopes to roll out for sale in the near future after diesel icecream vans have been banned in some areas of London due to their emissions.
Edd holds a host of other records, including the world’s fastest motorised shopping trolley, which is on its way to becoming street legal, and the world’s largest motorised shopping trolley which stands at 3.5 metres tall.
This record will be included in 2021’s Book of Guinness World Records.
Editor-in-chief Craig Glenday said: “This year’s incredible edition has been compiled in the most extraordinary of circumstances.
“Halfway through writing it, the world was turned upside down by Covid-19, but despite lockdowns and quarantines, it’s not prevented amazing characters like Edd from breaking records.”
We hope to see Edd back on our screens some time soon, but will make do with hearing about his crazy and ambitious designs. We miss you, Edd!
