Mid-Engined Chevrolet Camaro Looks Far Better Than C8 Corvette

We have often featured our favourite renderings on this site, specifically from Rain Prisk and other designers that we love, but when we stumbled across Rostislav Prokop, we couldn’t not show you his rendering of what a mid-engined Camaro may look like.

The Camaro has seen very little success over the past few years unlike its big brother, the C8 Chevrolet Corvette. Only yesterday did we find out that it was the fastest-selling car of January 2021. So what needs to happen to the Camaro to see the same success? Well, how about move its engine to the midsection of the car?

The Render

The 3D rendering simply looks brilliant, with a large black grille up front contrasting nicely with that classic orange Chevrolet paint colour. The headlights are lined with intimidating daytime running lights, and the side features a black-lined air intake to feed the hungry 6.2-litre LT1 V8. The rear features more black accenting and the recognisable rear of the coveted muscle car.

The wheels are aftermarket, and you wouldn’t find such things on a real car from Chevrolet, but they suit this render with painted faces and polished metal rims.

How Likely Is This To Happen?

Um, not at all. The Camaro will always be the company’s front-engined muscle car, especially with the Corvette taking top halo car spot of its portfolio, so we’re highly unlikely to see it change and start to compete with other Chevrolet modes. Unfortunately for the Camaro, Chevrolet will have to pull something out of its a**e to compete with the likes of the Mustang and Challenger, but we enjoyed a look into the unknown, even if it’s completely unrealistic.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]

  1. American speaking here. Most Americans are too stupid to appreciate a mid-engine car. Too many are inbreed to only think front engine rear drive is the only way god intended sports cars to be. As great as the current C8 Corvette is, I would take one in a heartbeat over just about any other sports car in its price range, it’s still facing an angry pushback from the Billy-Bob crowd, and honestly that’s a part of it’s appeal to me. I see a C8 and I know it’s not a Billy-Bob driving it, unlike the C7 which Billy-Bob’s love. Considering what a lead pipe the current Camaro is, Chevy should really do this, it would be a real gamechanger, but they won’t. Chevy is nowhere near savy or sophisticated enough to appreciate what could be done with it nor they are not willing to face potential blowback from their redneck market.
