Minnesota Troopers Pulls Over Doctor For Speeding – Gives Her N95 Medical Masks Instead
Today’s warm and fuzzy article comes in the shape of a good gesture from a Minnesota trooper. What should have been a speeding ticket turned into a heart-warming gift from the trooper who instead gave Dr. Sarosh Ashraf Janjua, a cardiologist at a coronavirus quarantine unit in Duluth, five N95 masks. These masks were supposed to be for keeping trooper Brian Schwartz safe, but he thought they were of better use in her hands. Of course, she received a warning about her speeding, too.
“I burst into tears. And though it may just have been the cold wind, I think he teared up a little as well, before wishing me well and walking away,” Janjua said on a now-deleted Facebook post.
“This complete stranger, who owed me nothing and is more on the front lines than I am, shared his precious masks with me, without my even asking.”
Schwartz couldn’t help but offer his masks after seeing two used masks in Janjua’s purse, especially after hearing reports that doctors have been forced to reuse masks, upping the chances of infection. Janjua said she had been “afraid” of the increasing risks of her position thanks to not having the right equipment.
“Thank you to Sarosh for her hard work and dedication,” the Minnesota State Patrol said on Facebook. “Troopers are working hard during the pandemic and are thinking about all the first responders who are caring for Minnesotans during this critical time.”
With so much hurt being thrown at us each day at the moment, it’s nice to have a story like this so we can remember there are good people out there doing their best to help.
“I think we are all just hanging on to something that makes us feel safe,” Janjua told CNN. “Somehow, for Americans, that something has become N95 masks and toilet paper. Trooper Schwartz’ act of kindness became my something.”
