It’s fair to say that the majority of F1 fans aren’t happy with the anticlimactic ending of the Italian Grand Prix as the famous race came to an end under the safety car.
McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo suffered issues with his power unit, forcing him to come to a stop at a vital part of the track and the safety car was released. But with the McLaren machinery soon moved off the track, there was confusion behind the safety car and a number of lapped cars didn’t un-lap themselves. This led to the race simply coming to an end with Max Verstappen taking the win, Charles Leclerc coming in second for Ferrari, and George Russell doing Mercedes yet another solid with a P3 finish.
The booing was so loud at the Italian Temple of Speed that Sky had to mute the crowd for viewers, and now Twitter has erupted with anger with many comparing to the controversial 2021 Abu Dhabi GP.
“So Fraudstappen can finish the race behind the safety car but you broke the rules so that Lewis couldn’t? #F1xed” one fan posted.

Another user added:
“Everything about the last laps of the #ItalianGP is the complete opposite of the bullsh*t we were all fed after the #AbuDhabiScandal. A race finishing behind the Safety Car?? No red flag?? And why?? Because MV is leading and they wouldn’t want to change that #farce #F1xed”
A third stated compared this to the Abu Dhabi GP:

There are plenty more where that came from:

Now these MFs are accepting finishing behind SC

Verstappen leading = Race ending Under Saftey Car
Hamilton leading = rules broken to give 1 lap racing #F1xed

There’s always something that comes to @Max33Verstappen’s rescue. This sport is #F1xed. An utter joke. Outclassed and gifted a win he couldn’t achieve on his own. Just like back at the #AbuDhabiScandal.
Has their ever been a more coddled driver?

It’s fair to say that people are angry. Should the race have gone to a red flag allowing a final 3-lap sprint? I think so, just so the race could end with just that: racing. A yellow flag end was incredibly dull.♦ Follow Grand Tour Nation on Google News
