F1 News: Ferrari’s Speed Threatens Red Bull at Austrian GP According To Insider

Red Bull’s motorsport consultant, Helmut Marko, has his eyes on the Prancing Horse as he anticipates the upcoming Austrian Grand Prix. Despite Red Bull’s Max Verstappen taking the top podium spot in Canada, Marko points out the formidable speed of Ferrari that he believes could pose a significant challenge.

The Canadian Grand Prix saw Verstappen clinch the victory, with Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton capturing the second and third spots. However, the Ferrari duo of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz also showcased remarkable progress. Despite beginning the race from 10th and 11th positions, they managed to make their way up to finish 4th and 5th, beating Verstappen’s teammate, Sergio Perez.

Marko notes that the Red Bull Ring, the venue for the Austrian Grand Prix, seems to play into the hands of the Ferraris. During an interview with Motorsport.com, he elaborated, “The Red Bull Ring suits Ferrari well. If Leclerc comes from the first or second row of the grid, it won’t be a great race for Max.”

Reflecting on the challenges faced at the Canadian Grand Prix, he remarked, “It wasn’t an easy race. We had problems adjusting the temperature of the hard tyres. The race was more difficult than we thought. But, luckily, Ferrari started from the back, because they were faster with both tyre games.”

As the weekend approaches, the superior speed of the Maranello-based team, coupled with their ability to make up ground, presents a potentially thrilling showdown at the Austrian Grand Prix.
