George Russell Leads the Charge in Abu Dhabi GP FP1 Thriller

Felipe Drugovich Impresses as Test Drivers Spice Up Season Finale

The Formula 1 season finale ignited with a flurry of excitement as George Russell, behind the wheel of a Mercedes, set the pace during the first practice session (FP1). This marked the beginning of the end, and anticipation was high for what promised to be a thrilling weekend of racing.

Notably absent from the track was Fernando Alonso, with Felipe Drugovich stepping into his shoes for the session. The young Brazilian driver displayed his prowess by securing the second-fastest time of the session, highlighting his potential in the world of Formula 1. Meanwhile, Daniel Ricciardo, a consistent performer throughout the season, showed his determination by rounding out the top three.

As the cars roared around the Yas Marina Circuit, the first session of the weekend witnessed the participation of nine test drivers, each representing their respective teams. Among them, Jack Doohan had a heart-stopping moment as he approached the final corner on a flying lap. Just as he prepared to attack the corner, he encountered a slower-moving Logan Sargeant, who was occupying the racing line. Quick thinking and expert maneuvering by Doohan in the A523 spared both drivers from a potential collision, showcasing the split-second decisions and skill required in the high-speed world of Formula 1.
