Jeremy Clarkson Slammed By Farm Safety Foundation After “Poor Safety Behaviour”
A recent Instagram photo of Kaleb Cooper and Jeremy Clarkson caused a stir as fans wait for the second season of Clarkson’s Farm. The photo showed Kaleb laying on the front weight of Jeremy’s famous Lamborghini tractor, but Stephanie Berkeley, manager of the Farm Safety Foundation, has complained about the display.
Urging The Grand Tour presenter to be more responsible with farming equipment in front of so many viewers, she told Farmers Weekly the following:
“This programme could be a great way to help improve this, so it is a pity that they chose to use this photo displaying such poor safety behaviour.
“Agriculture continues to have the poorest safety record of any occupation in the UK and we are working hard to change that.”
Elizabeth Creed, a farming safety consultant from the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health added her opinion on the photo, too, saying it was “highly disappointing”:
“It is frustrating that the team at Clarkson’s Farm did not recognise that their platform has a huge potential for influencing and encouraging a positive safety culture in farming.
“We have suffered a number of fatal incidents this year.”
The team behind Clarkson’s Farm were quick to release a statement to retaliate to these comments:
“Our first series showed Jeremy has great respect for the farming community.
“However, its remit (or the programme) is not a “how to guide” to farmers who already know far more than he does.”
