Top Gear Report: Reasonably Priced Car Vauxhall Astra Up For Sale
Another Vauxhall Astra that saw duty as Top Gear’s Reasonably Priced Car is going up for sale, after a previous one of the show’s Astras sold on eBay for £17,800. This particular car is the very last of the show’s multiple units, which included both manual and automatic transmission versions.
According to a post by Car Throttle, this particular Astra was returned to Vauxhall following the end of Series 22 and the departures of Jeremy, James, and Richard. The car has less than 3,000 miles and is fitted with a roll cage and five-point harness, along with deactivated airbags (which will need to be reactivated prior to becoming road legal again).
The Astra is being auctioned by Coys, the same folks who auctioned off Richard Hammond’s Porsche 924 last month. The auction for the Astra is this upcoming Saturday, February 18th, and will be Lot 337 with no reserve price. Proceeds from the sale will go towards the automotive charity Ben, a non-profit organization that provides support for those involved in the UK’s automotive industry.
The Vauxhall Astra has seen quite a bit of action when it debuted as the Reasonably Priced Car in Series 20, Episode 1. As with most new Reasonably Priced Cars, the Astra was christened with an outdoor picnic with multiple stars invited to set laps times, including Jimmy Carr, Warwick Davis, Joss Stone, and Brian Johnston. Here is the full leaderboard compiled over the Astra’s years in service:
