Artist Slowly Dismantles Audi R8 for Incredible Photo
It’s safe to say the Audi R8 changed the automotive industry at its first release during the Paris Auto Show 2006. It was the first production car with daytime running lights, and set a bar higher than any other supercar of the era regarding drivability, ease, and well… it looked stunning. Its first design, despite being over ten years old now, still holds its own against the modern era.
With it still being such a successful model, how do you celebrate such an achievement? By commissioning artist Fabian Oefner, of course.
He slowly and painfully took apart each bit from the rear of the car and photographed it against a black background. These parts were then arranged precisely using photoshop onto the finished product. As you can see from the photo above, this is no easy feat, with hundreds, if not thousands of layers being meticulously arranged and edited to mimic the backend of the car ‘doing a Thanos’.
“A lot of people will look at the photograph and say it’s fake, and that’s fine,” Fabian said, adding, “But maybe the five per cent that look a bit longer and a bit closer – they will see somebody’s actually photographed every single piece.
“As a gift from myself to them, [they will] see a beautiful photograph with a beautiful story behind it.”
Anyone else going to use this as a screen saver? Yep, me too.
