BMW’s New EV Concept Has Giant Kidneys
Fresh from the Frankfurt Auto Show, BMW has revealed their upcoming i Vision Dynamics concept, which is the first look at the i5 model due in 2021. This comes as part of BMWs initiative to offer 25 electrified models by 2025, with half of them full-electric.
The design and details will obviously undergo changes in the new few year, but for the most part, this is BMWs electric four door of the 2020s. It will have a 373 mile range and 120 MPH top speed. The concept is able to reach 62 MPH in 4 seconds.
The first things you’ll notice is the funkdafied trademark kidneys, which hardly resemble the traditional design. Now no longer needing to function as cooling for the engine, the kidneys are instead used as an “intelligent surface,” packed full of sensors underneath (presumably for autopilot and such).
BMW described the car’s styling as minimalistic, keeping in line with the i models doing “more with less” philosophy. Considering how striking their i models have looked so far, i would say “more with less” is certainly something that can produce some stunning designs.
