Hennessey Will Never Put A V8 In The New Ford GT

It was a great shame when we found out the new 2018 Ford GT wasn’t going to be given 8 cylinders like its predecessors before it. It was with even greater disappointment that we found out the word ‘Ecoboost’ was going to be scrawled over it. “No supercar should have ‘eco’ written on it,” we whined!
But it’s okay! John Hennessey will save us. His tuning shop won’t stand for this nonsense. Just like they did when they poured a Coyote V8 into the Ford F-150 Raptor which originally came with a 3.5-litre V6. They’ll do the same to the Ford GT. Short answer: no they won’t.
On speaking to Motor Authority, John Hennessey admitted that, in his ‘qualified opinion’, a V8 simply won’t fit. Not without dramatic and costly modifications to the body work and chassis, of course. And even if these changes were performed, it would put the aerodynamics out of balance and leave the functional racecar for the road meaningless.
Hennessey believes that swapping out the engine would ruin the car, and therefore, has put his foot down on the idea. “If a customer came to me with a bag of a million dollars and said, ‘Would you put a V-8 in the back of my Ford GT?’ I won’t do it.”
So no amount of money will change his mind. Maybe in that case, we’ll have to make do with replicas. Like this one:
