Jeremy Clarkson Sparks Hate Over Traditional A-Level Tweet
Only yesterday, presenter of The Grand Tour and previously Top Gear Jeremy Clarkson tweeted his annual A-level tweet. “A level results not great? Don’t worry, I got a C and 2 Us and I’m currently building a large house with far reaching views of the Cotswolds,” it read.
While annoying for some, it really is just a humorous jab at the fact A-level results aren’t that important in the grand scheme of things, as proven by many celebrities and businessmen. But a few Twitter users weren’t overly happy with Clarkson’s spin on exam results in these difficult times, with many of them responding not so positively to it.

Nish Kumar, a British comedian and radio host, tweeted later the same day:
Instead of tweeting "my A-Levels were shit & I'm still a millionaire" how about you appreciate your experience is of no relevance to a group of people graduating into a global pandemic & a government who decided to have the papers marked down by HAL from 2001 & shut the fuck up.

While he didn’t tag Jeremy Clarkson in his post, you don’t have to have 3 A*s in your A-levels to know that he’s referencing Jeremy Clarkson. However, even fans of Nish were keen to point out that Clarkson isn’t tweeting with the aim of showing off. He is instead hammering home that you don’t need good results to have a great life.
I disagree. Clarkson's experience may be irrelevant to many. But it's exactly the right time to remind students that poor grades don't have to mean disaster. This is the rare example of Clarkson doing something positive.

However, some were also quick to point out that Clarkson grew up in a wealthy area, schooled privately at Repton, and had other features of a privileged upbringing.
While there are plenty of arguments to be made on both sides, we feel like there are bigger things going on in the world right now. But, of course, if you want to take shots at someone trying to be funny on social media, just remember that while you’re trying to come up with a clever tweet, Clarkson is currently writing one of the most popular TV shows… in the world.
