The Fastest Ford GT In The World

The original Ford GT was an extremely fast car straight from the factory with its supercharged V8, and are now being sold for around $400,000. It’s not a car most people will ever be able to get their hands on, but it possesses the dreams of car enthusiasts all over the world. But what happens when someone believes it’s not fast enough? This is where M2K Motorsports and friends enter the equation to deliver the fastest standing mile in history.

Accufab Racing was given the engine to twin-turbocharge and tinker with until the 5.4 litre V8 reached a massive 2500whp at 8400rpm – numbers only made available with the turbos running 45psi. The ECU is taken care of by a MoTeC system, with the wiring loom and tuning being managed by NCS Designs. The bodywork, aero and suspension was worked over by Ahlman Engineering who are the guys also behind the Honda Indycar, proving themselves to be a strong asset in the partnership.

After this mechanical evolution, the Ford GT reached a standing mile run of 293.6mph, 10mph over the previous record holder. Just for comparison’s sake, a stock Corvette C6 Z06 completes the same run at 171mph.

The Ford GT has always been a favourite with drag racers because of the low nose and large engine bay – plenty of space for a twin-turbo setup. Almost ten years ago, Hennessey’s Ford GT reached 220mph on the standing mile showing us that chasing a high speed has always been a slow process. M2K, however, has just reached another massive milestone.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: alex@grandtournation.com
