Jeremy Clarkson’s Farm Shop Forced To Close Due To Council Demands
It’s safe to say that Jeremy Clarkson’s new farming show, Clarkson’s Farm has been a huge success, with the show being greenlit for a second season. But when such a thing rides on a physical location, especially a business that is open to the public, there are bound to be some setbacks.
It turns out fans from all across the country want a bit of the action, flocking to Diddly Squat Farm shop in droves. Jeremy has already apologised for the resulting traffic in a tweet:
“People of Chadlington,” he wrote. “I’m truly sorry about the traffic around our farm shop last weekend. We are doing everything we can to improve the situation.”

There’s been such an influx of people in the area in fact, that the police had to be called.
But now there’s a new issue with the shop, and this will result in its temporary closing. Its roof has to be replaced, according to a column from The Grand Tour presenter over the weekend:
“The bees worked hard and produced a lot of honey and the shop is proving to be something of a success?
“Even though I’ll have to close it down this winter to give it the fake slate roof that the local council likes, instead of the tasteful green roof it has now, which everyone else likes.”
According to sources, during the planning permission phase of the building of the shop, Jeremy agreed to let officials choose the material of the building’s roof. But on being built, a contractor, not knowing this clause, built the shop with a green steel roof.

Jeremy wrote at the time:
“My shop had only been open a few days when we received a stern letter warning us that our rather lovely ice cream had been made from the juice of cows that lived eight miles away, in Gloucestershire, and that this contravened a clause that said that we could only sell produce from West Oxfordshire.
“Since then we’ve been told that the roof is the wrong colour, that the sign is 0.3 of a metre too wide, that we aren’t allowed to sell teas and coffees, that the gingham covering on the straw bales contravenes Covid regulations, that the car park is a road safety hazard, that the sausage rolls are wrong in some unfathomable way, and that if we were allowed to sell beer, yobbos would come and urinate in the graveyard.”

It’s safe to say Clarkson has had quite a drama with his local council, but with a closure planned for the not-so-distant future, you might want to get there sooner rather than later if you fancy some of Clarkson’s excellent looking breakfast.
I am glad to see that your farm and shop are doing great for you, but I think that it’s time for you and your cohort’s to get back behind the steering wheels of your respective cars, and make with the Grand Tour.
We , the fan’s of the Grand Tour, have been waiting, for what seems like EONS, for more from the greatest team of automotive television presenters. So, in conclusion, just get on with IT! Thanks for all that you do.
I hope he gets the permission but I don’t have much optimism as
the series highlights for every person trying to make living there are three trying to justify their existence …. living off their backs this type of parasite inventing rules and regulations and pettiness which appears to be so prevalent in the UK.. unfortunately,, having applied for Planning permission in the past I realized that it’s all down to the personal objective of the council and very little to do with what will help the community I hope that his it is granted as the shop is obviously a very useful Outlet as competition in prices and produce is a big plus in my opinion 🙂 ps It would be interesting to find out how many of the people complaining have interest in the alternative higher price competition Outlets. including the parish council…?
If Clarkson just got on with the job of putting the wrongs right, he would get along a lot better with all concerned. The problem is that his inflated ego won’t let his mouth close long enough.
