F1 News: Russian Grand Prix Will Not Be Replaced for 2022 Season
After cancelling the Russian Grand Prix for obvious reasons, F1 has now confirmed that it will not be replacing the race, and will instead be lowering the number of races this season to just 22 compared to the original 23.
F1 cancelled the Russian GP when the country invaded Ukraine, and it was rumoured that a number of countries could take up the slack including Singapore. Qatar was also rumoured to be fancying a go, but during September, the country would have been far too hot.
It was also rumoured that the European part of the F1 calendar would be extended somehow, but this would have been very difficult with two Asian GPs following it.

Fans have reacted to the news, with one posting to Twitter:
“Great news. Even 22 races is too many.”
Another added: “Good for the personal but what will I do 3 weeks without F1?”
A third offered their choices on what could have made a great replacement for the track:
“Would’ve liked to see Dubai Autodrome, Sepang, Fuji GP, Hockenheim or… Indianapolis?”
🚨 F1 will not replace the Russian GP, so the 2022 schedule remains at 22 races 🗓
